CRESCENT BAY

Crescent Bay is a fictional small town set in the northeast of the USA. Neighboring the fictional metropolis Middleton, the charming coastal town is bustling with a diverse population and it's downtown area - New Crescent, is undergoing a season of rapid development. During your visit you'll find a close knit community of locals generations deep with lore, the juxtaposition of historic neighborhoods to the modernity of downtown, a beach, and a boardwalk where people tend to fall in love in the most surreal ways.

The only thing these books have in common is the setting. They are not a part of a series and they are not interconnected. This section is for all the small town lovers yearning for some Black Love representation.

HOW THE PLOT THICKENS

When you see a shooting star, wish on it.

Writing has always been my escape, my passion, and my dream. People loving my stories was supposed to be the most fulfilling part of my career, but with my latest release being a critical disaster, I began to wonder if my books were worth reading at all. Are bad reviews really bad if they tell the truth?

"She writes sex like she's never experienced it before."

Maybe I was a fraud for writing steamy romance novels when my love life was at its best, lukewarm. Using your imagination apparently doesn't count for much when you're still a virgin. So on one drunken night, when I caught a shooting star, I wished for the men I had written to step off their pages.

I didn't expect them to start showing up in my small town. I definitely didn't expect to have a swoon-worthy meet-cute with a very real, non-fictional man, and nothing could have prepared me for Xander Cross. The unhinged assassin from the dark romance I wrote when I was sixteen who vowed to take the life of any man who touched me. Now that I knew what it meant for love to be written in the stars, would I become the hero of my story, or would I let chaos consume my reality?

How The Plot Thickens is a speculative, small-town romance with magical elements from the author of the highly rated Golden Peaks Country Club series. Joanna Kimber adds a light-hearted addition to her catalog with this parodical rom-com that playfully teases the tropes we all know and love while highlighting the parts that make romance special.

THE FIANCE FAVOR

She's on the run with nowhere to go. He's the grumpy innkeeper who offers her a roof...and maybe a way to stay.

Gayle lives by a simple creed: work hard, plan for the worst, and pray for the best. Her life has been a relentless pursuit of stability until one devastating event turns her into a fugitive. Forced to leave the island she calls home, Gayle flees the island she calls home, the life she built and the family she loves.

Crescent Bay is supposed to be a temporary stop. But when she arrives in the sleepy coastal town in the middle of a stormy spring night, a desperate favor leads her to Jiraiya Emerson: a brooding innkeeper with a struggling Bed & Breakfast and no patience for strangers.

Their deal is simple: she'll help revive the inn, and he'll give her a job and a place to stay. Between the town's quirky charm, the freedom from her past, and the quiet intensity of the man she's living with, Gayle starts to imagine a new kind of future when her haunting reality presents a hopeless dilemma. Unable to return home, and with only three months to stay in the country, her only solution is a marriage of convenience to the one man who sees through her walls and makes her feel truly alive.

Perfect for lovers of grumpy x sunshine, marriage of convenience, slow burn chemistry, and emotional Black romance with heart.
